2004 Dodge Intrepid Fuel Injector Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair Fuel Injectors on 2004 Dodge Intrepid?
A: The first step in serving or repairing the fuel injectors is to release fuel system pressure. After disconnecting the negative terminal from the battery, take out the bolts that secure the intake manifold plenum and lift it from the engine, always ensuring the intake manifold is covered so no foreign substances go in while working. You should remove the quick connect fittings from the fuel supply tube on the back of the intake manifold. If the injector connectors do not have their cylinder number attached, do so for identification. After removing the connectors from the fuel injectors, take out the bolts holding the fuel rail and lift the fuel rail straight off the head of the engine. After removing the retaining clips, take out the fuel injectors; repeat the procedure for every remaining injector. Make sure the O-rings on the injectors are not damaged; if one is, you need to change it, along with any broken injector clips. When installing, brush a tiny amount of clean engine oil onto the fuel injector O-rings, then secure the injectors on the fuel rail using the retaining clips, gently pushing them in till they are correctly in place. Bring the fuel rail near the cylinder head and push it till it fits, then tighten the bolts by applying 11 N.m (100 in.lbs.) of torque. Connect the fuel supply tube with the quick connect dies at the rear of the intake manifold and link the electrical wires to each fuel injector. Then, put in the intake manifold plenum and reattach the negative wire to the battery.
