Support the positive end of the battery connector with the starter, put the alternator connector into the battery positive connector and tighten the captive nut to 10 Nm (90 in. lbs.). Proper charging and turning of the engine depends on connecting the alternator output terminal to the positive battery terminal of the starter solenoid. Link the solenoid connector to the starter and check that the latch is holding it securely. Put the starter on top of the transmission, bolt the main bolt through the bottom and tighten it enough for a snug fit. Connect the ground cable to the starter mounting bolt that is located at the top and properly line up the starter before screwing in the starter mounting bolts to 54 Nm (40 ft. lbs.) torque.
