How to Service and Repair a Rear Door Latch Assembly on 2004 Dodge Ram 1500?

For servicing or fixing the rear door latch, push the window to its highest point and eliminate the trim panel from the door. Lift the waterdam from the groove and unplug the rod from the rodless door handle and lock first, then remove the rod. Remove both actuator rods from the door latch and also remove the door wire harness cable from the door latch. Unscrew the three bolts holding the latch onto the door and take out the latch. For installation, set the door latch in door and use the bolts to secure it set to a tightness of 10 N.m (89 in.lbs.). After that, attach the connector from the door wire harness to the door latch and then hook the two actuator rods to the door latch. After finishing the actuator rod mounting, join it to the door latch and door handle actuator. Put the waterdam back on the door and attach the door trim panel. You can also change how the latch works if it does not open or close properly.
