2004 Dodge Ram 1500 Window Regulator Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Maintain a Window Regulator on 2004 Dodge Ram 1500?
A: Before servicing the power window regulator, take out the inner belt molding and also the waterdam. Disconnect the switch from the door panel and put it into the door harness. Lift the door glass to the marked height, remove the nuts fixing it to the window regulator through where the speaker is and through the sight window and take off the door glass. Put a wooden wedge in the doorway at the top to lock the door glass there. Raise the thermostat lever and then remove the nuts that connect the regulator stabilizer to the door. Unscrew the bolt under the window to free the regulator from the door and then only loosen the two remaining regulator bolts. Pull upwards on the window regulator to remove the two bolts from the door, then extract the window regulator through the door and cut the wire connecting the door harness and the window regulator. Join the door wires to the window regulator, then insert the regulator through the opening in the door. Fasten the top two regulator bolts to the door and then put on and tighten the lower regulator bolt to secure it to the door at 10 N.m (89 in.lbs.). Put the regulator stabilizer into place inside the door and tighten each nut to 10 N.m (89 in.lbs.) by hand. Lift the window regulator, hold up the door glass and remove the wedge made of wood. Install the two nuts that hold the door glass to the window regulator where they are visible through the sight window and the speaker opening, tighten them to 10 N.m (89 in.lbs.). After that, remove the electric window switch from the door wire harness, attach it to the door trim panel and restore the waterdam and inner belt molding.
