  • Q: How to Maintain and Fix a Tie Rod End on 2004 Dodge Ram 1500?
    A: Take off the jam nut and then unscrew the nut on top of the outer tie rod end from the ball stud. With Remover 8677, split the tie rod ball stud at the knuckle and take out the outer tie rod simultaneously from the inner one. Fit the outer tie rod end onto the inner tie rod which is found on the knuckle, to its previous position and place it into the steering knuckle. Screw the ball stud nut onto the ball stud to 61 Nm (45 ft. lbs.) and then turn it an extra 90 degree. Adjust the toe pattern and then tighten the jam nut to 75 Nm (55 ft. lbs.). Do not twist the boot during either removal or installation.
