2004 Dodge Ram 2500 Brake Master Cylinder Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Brake Master Cylinder on 2004 Dodge Ram 2500?
A: Before servicing or repairing the brake master cylinder on any model except Hydroboost, remove the brake lines, disconnect the electrical wire for the low fluid level and undo the mounting nuts to take out the master cylinder. Carefully pull the master cylinder forward so you don't dislodge the output rod in the booster. Make sure to bleed the master cylinder and make sure the brake booster's output rod is placed so that it will go into the master cylinder plunger sleeve when you put the master cylinder in. After removing the booster, pump your foot on the brake pedal a few times to drive out excess vacuum. Then, connect the master cylinder to the booster (tighten new mounting nuts to 25 Nm / 221 in. lbs.), attach the brake lines, put back the switch electrical connector and finally both prime and bleed the entire base brake system.
