2004 Dodge Ram 3500 Piston Ring Set Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Properly Install a Piston Ring Set on 2004 Dodge Ram 3500?
A: Start by figuring out the piston's diameter and getting the suitable ring set, marking the pistons as needed. Place every ring into the cylinder and then use a piston to confirm that the bore is square with the ring at 89.0 mm (3.5 in.). Evaluate the distance between the piston and the cylinder with a feeler gauge. Put all rings with the word TOP or the provider's MARK facing up when you place them. Slide the ring expander into the bottom groove, called the oil control ring groove and place the oil control ring with its end gap opposite the expander. After that, place the middle piston ring in the second groove and the top ring in the top groove. After that, attach the ring in place following the directions on the snap together frame.
