Support the fireplace hood so it's raised and with a grease pencil, note the place where the old hinge is attached. Once done, take out the prop for the hinge gas and unb bolt the nuts holding the hinge to the hood, together with the bolts that attach the hinge to the vehicle body. Set the new hinge onto the car and check that its reference marks are lined up with the ones on your car. Insert the bolts and tighten them to 12 N.m (9 ft. lbs.). Next, screw the nuts onto the hinge bracket on the hood and tighten them to 12 N.m (9 ft. lbs.). Then, insert the hood hinge prop rod again and check how well the hood fits; fix any concerns you find.
