2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee Glove Box Parts and Q&A
Q: How is the Glove Box Serviced on 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee?
A: Start by detaching the battery's negative cable to turn off the air bag system and allow two minutes for the air bag capacitor to drain its power. Push the glove box forward until the integral lies against the rubber bumpers at the top of the glove box opening reinforcement. With your fingers, push the rubber flap on each glove box stop bumper under the edge of the hood, then pull the door down so the integral stops slide through the rubber rubbers. Just before closing your glove box, tug the pneumatic damper connector to its back end on the glove box to make sure the rubber stop bumpers are moved too. Press the damper connector into the keyed slot on the rim of the bin that faces the door. Again detach the battery cable and make sure the glove box is not touching the hinge bumpers as you roll it down from the panel. Grab the door at each end, move it away from the instrument panel, twist as you pull, raise it up vertically and gently wiggle and turn it until the hinge hooks are released. Take out the glove box located behind the actual instrument panel. To attach the glove box, put each glove box hook on its hinge pin, keep the door vertical, twist it clockwise to connect the inboard hook and roll the glove box fully into the instrument panel, only reconnecting the negative battery cable after this.
