2004 Jeep Wrangler Cruise Control Switch Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Safely Handle a Cruise Control Switch When Working with Airbag and Steering Components on 2004 Jeep Wrangler?
A: To prevent a malfunctioning air bag from affecting you or others, always unplug the negative (ground) terminal of the battery for two minutes prior to operating on an air bag system, the steering wheel or steering column. You should begin by separating the negative cable from the battery. After that, take out the air bag module. After removing the screw on the steering wheel base, pull the switch off and unplug its electrical connector. Connect the element's wires to the switch, position the switch to the steering wheel and tighten the screw on the mounting plate to 1.5 Nm (14 in. lbs.) torque. Insert the air bag module and connect the side with the negative battery cable to the battery's negative end.
