2004 Jeep Wrangler Throttle Cable Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Maintain and Fix a Throttle Cable on 2004 Jeep Wrangler?
A: First, hold the accelerator pedal up inside your car, then release the plastic cable retainer and remove the core wire from the upper end of the pedal arm. After that, pinch both sides of the cable housing retainer tabs near the dash panel to free the cable housing and pull it toward the engine. After you unbolt the air box at the throttle body, get the cable out of the routing clip attached to the dash panel and move it towards the engine. Open the throttle to its highest point and carefully slide the pin from the throttle body bellcrank. Hold a small screwdriver or pick and press the tab on the plastic mount until it is loose. After that, carefully slide the cable out at the front of the vehicle. Push the plastic mount of the cable into the bracket for the throttle body until the tab fits with the hole there. While accelerating to the widest position, insert the end of the throttle cable pin into the throttle body bellcrank. Secured the retaining tabs by feeding the cable housing through the rubber grommet and the opening in the dash while pressing against the tab areas. Slide the wire part inside the throttle cable into the opening at the top of the pedal arm, then feed in the plastic retainer and snap it into place inside the pedal arm. After that, put the air box back on the throttle body and press the accelerator pedal a few times to ensure it unlocks before turning on the engine.
