2005 Chrysler Sebring Drive Belt Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Drive Belt for a 2.0L/2.4L Engine on 2005 Chrysler Sebring?
A: When working on the 2.0L/2.4L engine drive belt, first lift the vehicle on a hoist and take out the right front wheel with its splash shield. With a 3/8" drive breaker bar in the square hole of the belt pivot bracket, twist the tensioner clockwise as far as possible so that the belt can be removed from the pulleys. Once you have removed the belt, relax the tensioner. Raise the car, remove the right front wheel and its belt splash shield, then let go of the air conditioning compressor/generator belt and loosen both bolts at the top of the power steering pump. After reducing the tension on the belt, move the pump assembly toward the engine to access it. Always skip the air conditioning compressor pulley and route the belt properly over the rest, then turn the breaker bar clockwise to stretch the belt for installation onto the compressor pulley. Let the belt belt out, remove the breaker bar and attach the splash shield along with the right front wheel again before lifting the car. For step-by-step directions, first put the belt on the pulleys, then stick the 1/2 inch drive breaker bar into the hole on the bracket and turn clockwise, while tightening the adjuster and pivot bolts. Also, fit the air conditioning compressor/generator belt, the belt splash shield and the right front wheel before you lower the car or drain the oil again.
