2006 Chrysler Sebring Drive Belt Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service the Drive Belt for Power Steering on 2006 Chrysler Sebring?
A: To start servicing the power steering pump belt, you should raise the car on a hoist, take off the right front wheel and remove the belt splash shield as well. After that, remove the air conditioning belt and then loosen the pivot bolt and the locking bolt/nut next to it. Push the assembly inside the engine and remove the belt while the pump is loose. Brush away any objects and wipe the belt pulley areas clean from grease and oil before you put the new belt in place. The belt should be replaced if it has major wear, fraying or substantial glazing; small cracks across the ribbed side are fine, but no parallel cracks are acceptable. Adding any belt dressing or restorer to a Poly-V Belt is not recommended. Get the power steering pump belt and put it where the pulleys connect. Insert your 1/2" drive breaker bar into the square opening on the bracket for the power steering pump and then tighten that adjusting bolt/nut by turning it clockwise. Adjust the pivot bolt, place the air conditioning compressor/generator belt, then the belt splash shield and right front wheel and finish by lowering the vehicle.
