2005 Chrysler Sebring Fuel Rail Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service a Fuel Rail on 2005 Chrysler Sebring?
A: Before servicing the fuel rail, let go of the fuel system pressure and unplug the negative battery cable. Remove the wiring harness from the fuel rail support bracket and next remove the fuel rail support bracket. First, detach the wires from the fuel injectors, then disconnect the harness from the fuel rail brackets, removing them in that order. Then, remove the throttle and speed control cables from where they're attached to the fuel rail and take out the quick connect fitting on the fuel hose at the chassis tube, keeping a shop towel under it to prevent spilling any fuel. Unscrew the special bolts that secure the fuel rail and gently take it off, being very careful not to tear the injector O-rings. Remove the old O-rings and make sure they are replaced when you start your installation. Apply a drop of engine oil to the injector O-rings and put the tip of each injector through the holes in the cylinder block. Insert the whole unit into place until it seats. Tighten the two fuel rail mounting bolts to the intake manifold, apply 11.9 Nm (105 in. lbs.) torque and fasten the fuel rail mounting bolt to the cylinder head with 22 Nm (195 in. lbs.) torque. Join the connectors to the fuel injectors, put on the fuel rail support bracket and give all bolts a quick turn with the wrench. Secure the three fasteners onto the intake manifold with 28.3 Nm (250 in. lbs.) torque and secure the two bolts to the fuel rail with 8.5 Nm (75 in. lbs.) torque. Secure the wiring harness to the grill bracket, attach both throttle and speed control cables to the fuel rail bracket and hook the negative battery cable back up. After that, use the Drbiii(R) scan tool to add pressure to the fuel system and see if any leaks are present.
