2006 Chrysler Sebring Fuel Rail Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service a Fuel Rail on a 4-Cylinder Engine on 2006 Chrysler Sebring?
A: Prior to servicing the fuel rail on a 4-cylinder engine, let go of the fuel system pressure and take away the negative cable from the battery. Disconnect the fuel rail support bracket's wiring harness and then take out the bracket. Detach the connectors on the fuel injectors, then take the fuel rail harnesses from the brackets. Remove the connections from the fuel injectors first and then unhook both the throttle and speed control cables from the fuel rail. Exploit a shop rag to cushion the tube where you will remove the quick connect fitting for the gas hose. Unbolt all the attaching bolts on the fuel rail and remove the piece, taking special care not to puncture the O-rings of the injectors. When installing, check that the injector holes aren't clogged and exchange any worn out O-rings. Slightly lubricate the O-rings with clean engine oil and then place the injectors in the fuel rail cups, making sure the retaining clips are in place. Screw the first two fuel rail mounting bolts into the holes in the intake manifold, use a torque wrench to tighten them to 11.9 N.m (105 in. lbs.) and do the same for the third bolt into the head. Connect the connections to your fuel injectors, put on the fuel rail support bracket and loosen all the resulting bolts. Secure the three fasteners to the intake manifold with 28.3 N.m (250 in. lbs. of force) and tighten the two bolts to the fuel rail at 8.5 N.m (75 in. lbs.). Attach the wiring harness to the brackets, join the throttle and speed control wires with the fuel rail bracket and plug the negative battery cable in again. Remember to use the DRB III(R) scan tool to push fuel through the system and look out for any leaking after rotation of the wheels.
