2005 Dodge Dakota Air Filter Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Maintain Your Air Filter for Optimal Performance on 2005 Dodge Dakota?
A: First, open the cover by loosening the clamp and then disconnect the duct that holds the filter at the air cleaner. Lift the housing cover aside and, using a small screwdriver, remove the four spring clips that keep it in place then lift the cover free from the locating tabs before removing it. Pull the air cleaner from the housing to clean the inside of the housing and then place the new filter when done. Set the filter inside the housing, link the housing cover with the locating tabs and then release the four spring clips to hold it down. Clamp the air duct to the air cleaner cover and use about 3 Nm (30 inch lbs.) of torque. Should you remove any more clamps from the air intake system, tighten them to 3.4 Nm (30 inch lbs.) torque and all bolts from the air resonator housing or air intake tubing should be torqued to 4.5 Nm (40 inch lbs.) upon their removal.
