2005 Dodge Dakota Cruise Control Switch Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Safely Handle a Cruise Control Switch When Working with Airbag Systems and Steering Wheel Components on 2005 Dodge Dakota?
A: Just before you carry out any work on air bags, the steering wheel or steering column, disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable. Let the system capacitor discharge for about 2 minutes so you don't accidentally deploy it and hurt yourself. You should begin by separating the negative battery cable from the battery. After that, remove the air bag module. Unplug the accessory connector in the steering wheel, afterwards remove the screw (1) found in the switch mounting and pull out the speed control switch. When you install, secure the switch to the steering wheel and use the screw that comes with the switch according to the specified tightness. Plug the harness connector into the switch, put the air bag back in place and join the negative battery cable to the battery.
