Q: How to Service and Repair an Intake Manifold on 2005 Dodge Dakota?
A: Before working on the intake manifold, cut off the negative cable on the battery and then take out the resonator assembly and the air inlet hose. Remove the throttle and speed cables, together with the MAP, IAT, IPS, CTS, IAC and IAC connector cables. After that, take out disconnect the vapor purge hose, brake booster hose, speed control servo hose and positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) hose and also remove the generator and air conditioning compressor electrical connections. Eliminate the radio suppressor straps on both the left and right, the ignition coil towers and the oil dipstick tube holding bolt and ground strap from the top. Beneath the car, bleed the fuel system, then take out the fuel rail and throttle body as well as its bracket. Empty the water system just below the coolant temperature, disable the heater hoses from the engine front cover and heater core, clear the heater hoses from engine manifold and unclip and take out coolant temperature sensor. Loop the sequence from loosening the intake manifold retaining fasteners in reverse and unfastening the intake manifold itself. When installing, put the intake manifold gasket on first and then place the intake manifold. Insert the retaining bolts for the intake manifold and set them to 12 Nm (105 inch lbs.), following the proper sequencing. Attach the left and right radio suppressors, the throttle body and link the throttle and speed control cables to the throttle body afterward. Join the fuel rail and ignition coil towers, guide and attach the heater hoses and tubes onto the intake manifold and tie the heater hoses to the engine front cover and heater core. Reattach the electrical connectors to the MAP Sensor, IAT Sensor, TPS Sensor, CTS Sensor, IAC Motor, the ignition coils and fuel injectors. Next, put in the top oil dipstick tube retaining bolt and the ground strap, attach the ends of the generator electrical cables, add the remaining hoses to the vapor, brake booster and air inlet, connect the PCV hose, top up the coolant system, tighten the resonator assembly and air inlet hose and link the negative battery cable.
