How to Service and Repair a Hood Latch on 2005 Dodge Dakota?

Before fixing or servicing the hood latch, take off the push pin fasteners and the upper radiator shroud. Label the holes for the latch using a grease pencil or something comparable. After that, unbolt the hood latch from the radiator crossmember, take it off and separate the release cable. To install, connect the release cable to the hood latch, put it in place by lining it up with the marks and join it using the two bolts, fastening them to 11 N.m (8 ft.lbs.). When you are done, close the hood and make sure the latch is tightened properly.
