2005 Dodge Durango Power Steering Pump Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Maintain and Fix a Power Steering Pump on 2005 Dodge Durango?
A: The first step in servicing a power steering pump is to drain and siphon out all of the fluid from inside the pump. Then, remove the drive belt from the serpentine, plus the return hose at the reservoir as well as the pressure hose from the pump. After that, remove the three pump mounting bolts from the access hole in the pulley and slide the pump out of the engine. To install, place the pump in line with the engine mounting holes and feed the three bolts through the pulley access holes. Tighten them to 28 Nm (21 ft. lbs.). After finishing the belt installation, hook the pressure line of the pump and ensure it holds 31 Nm (23 ft. lbs.), then link the return hose from the reservoir back to it and put the serpentine drive belt in again. You should also fill the power steering pump with fluid when the car is finished.
