2005 Dodge Magnum Liftgate Hinge Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Maintain and Fix a Liftgate Hinge on 2005 Dodge Magnum?
A: It is necessary to open and prop up the liftgate when servicing or repairing the trunk/liftgate hinge. Take off the small trim piece placed above the head of the upper liftgate. Briefly mark the middle of the liftgate inner panel to indicate the hinge liftgate half's placement. Afterward, take out the two screws that attach the hinge to the liftgate, then mark the middle of the hinge body hole on the top liftgate edge. Open up the back of the headliner by pulling it down from the header and remove the two nuts that fasten the hinge studs to the header underneath. Place the body part of the hinge so that it covers half of the opening in the vehicle's lifted gate. Once more, lower the rear edge of the headliner and grip the stud nut with your nut wreck. Secure the stud nut to the header below by tightening with a 28 N.m (21 ft.lbs.) torque. Place the liftgate as recommended at the liftgate half of the hinge, then install and tighten the two hinge screws to 28 N.m (21 ft.lbs.). Erase the support wear plate for the liftgate, position the hinges where they should be and finally reattach the trim plate to the liftgate opening header seal.
