How to Service and Repair a Trunk Lid Latch on 2005 Dodge Magnum?

Open the trunk/liftgate and cut power to the car by disconnecting the negative cable from the battery when fixing/servicing the latch. Carefully remove the lower panel on the liftgate's interior and pull the pigtail wire connector from the latch off the main wire harness in the liftgate. After that, remove the three nuts between the latch and the inside studs of the liftgate and take off the latch from the vehicle. Put the latch onto the studs inside the liftgate and add and tighten the three nuts until they reach 12 N.m (9 ft.lbs.) during installation. Attach the pigtail wire connector from the latch to the liftgate wire harness, fit the lower trim panel, connect the negative side of the battery and then put the liftgate in its closed position.
