- Q: How to Maintain and Fix a Battery Cable on 2005 Dodge Neon?A: First, go to the Off position on the ignition and unplug any accessories on the battery cable. Detach the negative remote battery cable from its terminal and take out the battery from the car. Release each battery wire retaining pin, clip or fastener as you trace, so that the cables will be free of the vehicle after you've removed them from the engine compartment. When installing, first place the battery cables in the engine compartment and put on the battery cable pushpins, fasteners and routing clips individually, so that each cable goes into its original place. Afterward, fit the battery into the car and join the negative end of the remote battery cable.
