2005 Dodge Ram 1500 Battery Tray Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair the Left-Side Battery Tray on 2005 Dodge Ram 1500?
A: To work on the battery tray on the left, disconnect the battery connector (3), lift the battery (3) out of the battery tray and next remove the IPM (5). Remove the wire harness retainers from the battery tray and detach the purge solenoid (6) from its place. Unscrew the retaining nuts on the anti-lock brake controller (if installed), then hold it in place with mechanics wire without moving it out. Take off the left front wheelhouse splash shield, note the position of the cruise servo (3) and unscrew it so it lies aside. Unplug the battery temperature sensor from the battery tray and pull the left front fender ground wire loose. Remove the rest of the battery tray retaining bolts (2), then remove the battery tray from the vehicle. During installation, line up the battery tray assembly (1) and fix it into place with the retaining bolts (2). Connect the left front fender ground wire, fit the battery temperature sensor into the battery tray and position the cruise servo back in place (if you have one) together with its screws. Place the left front wheelhouse splash shield back in position, add the anti-lock brake controller (if the vehicle is so equipped), mount the purge solenoid (6) on its bracket, connect the wire harness retainers on the battery tray, fit the Integrated Power Module (IPM) (5) and then place the battery (3).
