How to Remove and Install Wheel Covers on 2005 Dodge Ram 1500?

Always take off the hub caps before you lift the vehicle to remove the wheel cover. Hold the hub/cap remover/installer with its opposite end facing outward, then push the flat end with pressure and move it back and forth which will help loosen and remove the skins by performing these steps all around the tire. On 2500/3500 single rear wheel vehicles, push the blade inside the tool to remove the cap. There are 3500 models with dual rear wheels; remove the hub caps by putting the tool in the pry-off location and pulling it out smoothly. When the caps come off, they can remove the wheel skins. On the front wheel of 3500 models, use the same popper to remove the wheel cap going back and forth over the cap to pop it off, releasing the wheel skins. When installing rear inner wheels, attach one 1 1/2 inch extension to each valve stem using a 3/8 inch drive 10mm wheel socket and a 10 inch extension to take out the existing cap. Each outside wheel should have a 1 inch valve stem extension installed after that. Coordinate the cooling holes of the wheel skin and wheel, snap the sides of the wheel skin away from each other and place one onto the wheel, then tap the rubber mallet around the outer side to fully anchor the skin to the wheel and achieve an even gap between wheel skin and wheel. With the hammer wrapped around the hub/cap wheel skin, try to turn and tug. With the front, put the valve stem into the matching notch on the skin, fix one arm of the retainer onto the wheel, whack the other with the mallet until it's held in place and check that a small gap remains and the hub covers are on securely.
