Q: How to Service and Repair a Rear Engine Mount on 2005 Dodge Ram 2500?
A: The first step is to lift the vehicle with a hoist and put a transmission jack in position. Take off the support cushion stud nuts and raise the back of the transmission and engine by a little bit. Now, extract the bolts that hold the support cushion to the transmission support bracket and take that piece out. If you need to, take out the bolts joining the transmission support bracket to the transmission. For installation, attach the transmission support bracket to the transmission if you took it off earlier and install new bolts and tighten the to 102 Nm (75 ft. lbs.). After that, place the support cushion on the transmission support bracket, add the stud nuts and tighten them to 47 Nm or 35 ft. lbs. With the transmission jack, bring down the transmission and cushion onto the crossmember, fit the bolts and tighten them to 47 Nm or 35 ft. lb. After that, remove the transmission jack and let the vehicle come down.
