2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee Control Arm Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Maintain the Lower Control Arm on 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee?
A: First, lift and support the vehicle, then take out the tire and wheel before proceeding. After that, unhook the steering knuckle and the shock clevis bracket from the bottom of the control arm. Take off the nut and bolt from the lower control arm at the front, then remove all the bolts and flag nuts at the rear. When these pieces are off, lift out the lower control arm from the car. When installing, attach the lower suspension arm bracket to the frame rail and secure the rear bolts of the lower control arm to the frame and tight them to 142 Nm (105 ft lbs). After that, set the nut and bolt on the front of the lower control arm and tighten them to 169 Nm (125 ft. lbs.). Following this, put the lower clevis bolt (2) in the hole at the bottom control arm and screw it till tight enough, then apply 75 Nm (55 ft. lbs.) of torque to the steering knuckle (3) nut that goes there. After that, install the tire and wheel back in place, lower the car and perform a tire alignment.
