2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee Control Arm Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair the Control Arm on 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee?
A: You should raise the vehicle, support its rear axle and only then remove the lower control arm. First, remove the fuel tank from the left hand side, then unbolt nut (2) and bolt (1) from the axle bracket, then nut (1) and bolt (8) from the frame rail to remove the lower suspension arm (9). For the next step, raise the vehicle, hold the rear axle with a jack stand, remove nut (2) and bolt (1) from the axle bracket as well as nut (1) and bolt (8) from the frame rail and the arm (9) will come off too. For the left side, put the lower suspension arm (9) in the frame rail, add the frame rail bracket bolt (8), added nut (1) and tighten to 176 Nm (130 ft. lbs.). On the axle bracket, install the axle bracket bolt (1) and the nut (2) and tighten to 210 Nm (155 ft. lbs.). Place the fuel tank in position, take out the supports and move the vehicle slowly to the ground. For the right suspension, put the lower suspension arm (9) in the frame rail, place the frame rail bracket bolt (8) and nut (1), tighten to 176 Nm, fix the lower suspension arm (3) in the axle bracket and fit the axle bracket bolt (1) and nut (2), tighten to 210 Nm. When everything looks proper, knock out the jackstands and gently bring the vehicle down.
