2006 Chrysler 300 Oil Filter Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Properly Service an Oil Filter on 2006 Chrysler 300?
A: Before removing the oil filter, first have the vehicle lifted on a hoist and loosen the splash shield retaining bolts and move the splash shield aside. Place a proper container where the oil filter will come out and then unscrew the oil filter with a wrench and dispose of it properly according to environmental rules. First, give the filter base a good clean and look at the surface of the gasket, then apply clean engine oil to the gasket on the new filter. After the gasket touches the base, fit the new filter and tighten it with the filter wrench set to 16 Nm (9 ft. lbs.) If you do not have a wrench, use the information found in the owner's manual to guide you. After that, install the lower engine splash shield and its bolts and make sure the crankcase contains the exact amount of engine oil. Make sure the engine is working smoothly, with no signs of leaks and that the oil level isn't too low or high on the dipstick, then top up if necessary.
