2006 Chrysler 300 Sway Bar Kit Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Sway Bar Kit on 2006 Chrysler 300?
A: The belt truss must be serviced by lifting the car, holding it up and removing the belly pan to access it. Unfasten the nuts on the AWD side of the sway bar link and slide the link ball joint stem off the bar. After that, remove the bolts that hold the sway bar isolator retainer in place and get rid of the sway bar along with the isolators and retainers. With the retainers gone, open the slit on the isolator and lift each one out of the sway bar. After you've raised and supported the car and taken off the belly pan, remove the screws that hold the sway bar heat shield and then unscrew the bolts attaching the isolator retainer. Get rid of the retainer halves around the isolator and use the slit to separate each isolator from the sway bar. Then, disconnect the bolts on the link and move the ball joint stem off the bar prior to removing the bar from the vehicle. On AWD systems, center the slit on each isolator at the back of the vehicle and install the deep retainer strap onto each isolator you attach. Anchor the sway bar link by making sure the link ball joint faces under the rearmost seat and not out toward the wheel well. Join the sway bar ends to your sway bar links, tighten the nuts a little bit, lift the sway bar over the engine cradle, then set the bushings into place. Fasten the isolator retainers with the bolts tightened to 60 Nm (44 ft. lbs.) torque; then use holding tools to tighten sway bar link nuts to 128 Nm (95 ft. lbs.) torque as you hold the stem in place. After that, install the belly pan and wheel it to the lower ground. Remove the sway bar from the sway bar link, install the sway bar link ball joint stem through the bar hole and only loosely put the nut in place. The slit on each sway bar must face toward the rear of the car when the isolator is installed on the bar using the locating collar. Install the isolator retainer halves around the isolator and then tighten each bolt to 60 Nm (44 ft. lbs.) torque. Cover the sway bar heat shield with its screws, then apply 128 Nm (95 ft. lbs.) of torque at the sway bar link nuts, while holding the bar stem from turning. Place the belly pan and bring back the vehicle to the ground.
