2006 Chrysler Pacifica Drive Belt Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service a Drive Belt on 2006 Chrysler Pacifica?
A: The first thing to do is lift the car on a hoist and remove the cover over the accessory drive belt. Be sure to hold onto the drive belt tensioner when releasing it, because it might snap back and be risky for both you and the wagon. Put a wrench on the tensioner lug, turn the tensioner counterclockwise and then take off the drive belt. Following removal, place the tensioner so it is not applying any force. Before putting on a new drive belt, make sure the grooves inside the belt pulley are free of oil, grease and coolants by cleaning them. When the belt shows very of wear, frayed cords or major glazing, it needs replacing. A few small cracks on the ribbed side of Poly-V Belts are acceptable, but cracks that are lined up in parallel aren't. Do not apply any type of dressing or restorer to a Poly-V Belt. During installation, place the drive belt over all the pulleys except for the crankshaft. Turn the belt tensioner to the left until you can put the belt on the crankshaft pulley and slowly release it afterward. Make sure every belt path is correct and that all pulleys are connected before installing the drive belt shield and lowing the vehicle.
