2006 Dodge Caravan Starter Motor Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Repair a Starter Motor for a 2.4L Engine on 2006 Dodge Caravan?
A: Open the hood of your engine, unclip the hood latch and then disconnect the battery negative cable from its terminal to access the starter motor. You should then remove the solenoid wire from the terminal, take out the B+ wire and remove the solenoid and B+ connections from the starter. To remove the starter, first take away the lower bolt, then the upper bolt and next, the ground wire. First, set the starter into its correct spot and bolt the lower half of the starter to the transaxle bellhousing and then bolt the upper attachment and add a grounding wire. Put the solenoid and B+ wires into position on the starter terminals, secure the B+ wire with a nut onto the terminal and connect the solenoid wire onto the terminal. After finishing, reattach the negative cable to the battery and check that the starter works again.
