2006 Dodge Caravan Washer Reservoir Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Maintain a Washer Reservoir on 2006 Dodge Caravan?
A: First, disconnect the battery negative cable and isolate it and then remove the engine housing for the fresh air. At the in-line connector under the cowl grille, unplug the washer hose. Ensure the connector stays with the washer hose which comes from the fresh air plenum and separate the washer hose from its hose clip on the front fender side shield. With the filler tube screw out, lift and support the vehicle on proper stands and then detach the right front wheel and tire from the car. Ease back the front wheelhouse shield on the left side and empty the fluid from the reservoir into a clean jar by disconnecting the hose from the outboard washer pump port. Release the red lock and use your thumb to depress the black tab which will remove the electrical body harness connectors from the washer pump motor and fluid level sensor. Bring up the reservoir ever so slightly, turn it and lower it, pulling the hose and front washer hose along through the opening in the fender shield as you disconnect it from the body mount by loosening the reservoir screws. Pull the filler neck and hose forward until they are in the front fender side shield hole, then put the reservoir on the body mount and let it hang. There are two reservoir mounting screws; tighten them to around 8.5 - 11.3 N.m (75 - 100 in. lbs.) and add the electrical body connectors to the washer pump motor and fluid level sensor, then slide the red lock so that it clicks closed. Route the washer line well and set the left right splash shield and right front wheel and tire assembly in their proper places. After removing the car from the hoist or jack stands, add the new filler tube screw, torquing it to 75 - 100 in. lbs. and join the washer hose to the clip on the front fender side shield. Further, reconnect the hose to the hose connector in front of the cowl grille. Reinstall the engine fresh air housing in the engine bay after that, attach the negative battery cable and check that the system is operational.
