2006 Dodge Dakota Throttle Cable Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Maintain and Fix a Throttle Cable on 2006 Dodge Dakota?
A: The first step is to reach inside from the cabin, press the accelerator pedal upwards and take off the plastic retainer and throttle cable core from the upper end of the pedal arm. After that, disconnect the cable core attached to the pedal arm and take out the metal clip that holds the cable to the dashboard. Removing the air resonator box at the throttle body allows you to unsnap the cable from the routing clip under the dash panel. Guide the cable housing out of where it is held under the dash into the engine compartment. When the throttle is stuck in its widest position, pull the pin from the throat. Grab a small tool, push down on the release tab to release the cable mount from the bracket without pressing too hard and then drag the mount to the right to remove the cable. Press the plastic part of the accelerator cable into the throttle body bracket until the tabs on both align with a single hole. When the throttle is wide open, fit the pin of the throttle cable into the throttle body bellcrank. Guide the cable housing into the rubber grommet, go through the opening in the dash and secure it to the panel with the metal clip. First, push the wire from the throttle cable core through the opening in the top of the pedal arm and then add the plastic cable retainer into the pedal arm opening until it locks into place. After that, put the air resonator tube back on the throttle body and accelerate the pedal a few times to ensure there is no binding before turning on the engine.
