2006 Dodge Sprinter 3500 Air Bag Control Module Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service an Air Bag Control Module on 2006 Dodge Sprinter 3500?
A: Service of the Air Bag Control Module should start by disconnecting the battery negative connection and waiting two minutes until the capacitor discharges. Pull the driver front seat back as far as it goes into the car and then unscrew the two screws on the seat riser panel to take off the cover. Then, take out the two screws attach the control module bracket to the space beneath the seat riser and pull off the bracket. The air bag Control Module (Acm) is in the right rear corner of the driver side seat riser; loosen the cover by lifting it up. Use a screwdriver to take out the three screws from the Acm's spot on the welded bracket, lift it and push on the release to disconnect the wire harness connector. Take the Acm off of the seat riser. When attaching, link the main vehicle wire harness connector to the Acm module, add the cover base plate to the mounting bracket and gently lay the Acm onto the base plate so the mounting tabs fit the holes and the arrow points toward the car's front. Attach and fasten the three Acm screws, positioning the ground eyelet terminal below the rear left mounting tab screw and fasten everything securely at 12 Nm (105 in. lbs.). Cover the Acm with the Acm cover and press until it snaps down firmly. Install the bracket for the control module onto the seat riser, holding it in place with two screws that are tightened to 2 Nm (18 in. lbs.) and adjust the cover panel in place using two additional screws also tightly tightened to 2 Nm (18 in. lbs.). Take the driver side front seat all the way back until it is in its driving position. Do not attach the negative battery cable until the verification test of the air bag system has been finished. Ensuring nothing is installed wrongly, the Acm needs to be initialized using Drbiii(R) scan tool when it is replaced.
