How to Service the Cigarette Lighter in the Center Console on 2006 Dodge Stratus?

Before working on the cigarette lighter in the center console, first cut off and separate the battery negative cable. Open the lid and take a look at how far the retaining bosses have moved within the console. To remove a boss, slide the 90 degree tips of external snap ring pliers against the bosses and squeeze, forcing the bosses away from the base. Rock the pliers to pull out the base from the mounting ring, then remove the base wires and place the base aside before taking out the base mount ring. The first step of installation is to install the base mount ring and link up the base wires. Put the base firmly into the center console before you connect the negative battery cable.
