Turn off the battery and take out the accessory drive before starting to service or fix the front crankshaft seal. After that, uninstall the crankshaft damper and the timing belt. Remove the crankshaft sprocket using Special Tool 6793, then add C-4685-C2 without touching the area on the shaft seal or the seal bore. Mechanics should take care to use Tool 6771 to pull up the front crankshaft oil seal safely, so it does not damage the cover wall. To install the seal, set Special Tool 6780 onto the engine so the seal spring touches the inside and the seal is flush with the cover. Place the crankshaft sprocket with Special Tool 6792, then install the timing belt and timing belt covers. Also, install the crankshaft damper, the accessory drive belts and reattach the negative battery cable.
