2006 Dodge Stratus Intake Manifold Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service an Intake Manifold on 2006 Dodge Stratus?
A: Before working on the intake manifold, release pressure from the fuel system and check that the work is done away from anything that could catch fire. Disconnect the negative battery lead and release all the coolant from the system. After that, unfasten the hose attached to the throttle body air inlet, remove the air cleaner housing assembly and disconnect both cables from the throttle lever. After that, get rid of the EGR tube and engine oil dipstick and tube and seal the opening in the block to ensure nothing can enter the crankcase. Remove the hoses from the vacuum manifold and from the end of the fuel supply line attached to the fuel rail, wrapping each hose with a shop towel to keep any fuel from getting on the ground. After removing the bracket's fastener from the engine, unplug the electrical wires for the fuel injectors, knock sensor, ECT sensor, JAC, TPS, MAP sensor, A/C pressure sensor, A/C compressor clutch and generator. Put the wiring harness back in its place, remove the fuel rail support bracket and then get rid of the fuel rail. To take out the intake manifold, loosen the coolant outlet connector and also loosen the manifold fasteners. Get rid of any gaskets and then wipe down all areas that seal. Check the manifold for any cracks, distortion or warpage, using a new one if it is damaged and examine the gasket on the manifold for visible damage or increased swelling, exchanging it when necessary. To install, install a new intake manifold and put on the supplied gasket and gradually tighten all the fasteners up to 28 Nm (250 inch lbs.) in the right sequence. Replace the coolant outlet connector, the fuel rail and the fuel rail support bracket and then link up the previously unconnected electrical connectors. Fix the fuel rail bracket to the cylinder head, observe the quick connect fittings for defect and change them if required, then link the supplied fuel hose to the fuel rail assembly, until it clicks into place. Attach the vacuum hoses to the intake manifold, mount the engine oil dipstick and tube and rejoin the EGR tube, the throttle cable and the speed control cable to the throttle lever. Top off the cooling system, plug in the negative battery cable and run the ASD Fuel System Test with the DRB tool while the ASD relay is still on.
