2006 Dodge Stratus Fuel Filler Neck Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair a Fuel Filler Neck on 2006 Dodge Stratus?
A: The first step in fuel filler neck repairs is taking off the negative battery cable and emptying out the fuel tank. Loosen the three screws holding the filler neck to the quarter panel and then take the ground strap away. Release the clamps at the filler neck and remove the neck from the fuel tank. Place a transmission jack under the fuel tank, unbolt the rear supports and turn the tank slightly so that you can reach the vent line connection and separate it, then release the old fuel filler tube after cutting the hose. For installation, place the filler neck onto one end of the filler hose and then attach the fuel filler vent tube. Hold the fuel tank in place, fix it with the straps and secure them by tightening each bolt to 39.8 ft. lbs (54 N.m). Take off the transmission jack, tighten all the clamps to 3.6 N.m (31.8 in. lbs) and fit the ground strap at 8.4 N.m (75 in. lbs). Place the vehicle on its wheels and fit the filler neck to the quarter panel. Drill and screw it in place with three screws set to 2.3 N.m (21 in. lbs). After filling the tank, hunt for any leaks and hook the negative cable to the battery again.
