2006 Jeep Commander Belt Tensioner Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Maintain the Belt Tensioner for a 3.7L Engine on 2006 Jeep Commander?
A: Before you start, get rid of the accessory belt first, then free the front section from the engine cover where the drive belt tensioner is located, making sure to avoid breaking connected components, as they must be serviced as an assembly unit, except for the pulley. For installation, place the indexing slot from the tensioner on the back against the bolt head on the front cover and install the mounting bolt until it is tightened to 41 Nm (30 ft. lbs.). Install the drive belt in the last step and make sure the belt indexing marks are aligned.
