2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee Battery Tray Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Repair a Battery Tray on 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee?
A: Before handling the battery tray, first take out the battery, then remove the battery tray's three pin connector (11). Then, remove the three screws (2, 3 and 4) holding the battery tray (4) in place: two on the body and one on the outer frame rail. When these things are gone, remove the battery tray, found in the left front side of the engine area. While installing, sweep out and check the battery tray and set the battery and support device in the proper corner of the engine section, watching out for any hose or wire traps. Screw the back of the battery tray to stud (5) in the front frame rail, tightening the nut (1) to 7 N.m (65 in. lbs.) and then secure the left outer side to the left inner fender with screw (2), tightening it to the same torque. Following that, place the two screws (3) into the battery tray (4) bracket, secure each to the inner fender and radiator bracket and tighten all to 7 N.m (65 in. lbs.). Finally, connect the battery wire harness three pin connector to the battery tray and set the battery down on the tray.
