- Q: How to Effectively Service and Repair a Starter Motor on 2006 Jeep Wrangler?A: Before starting to service or repair the starter motor, make sure to detach the negative battery cable and elevate and support the car on stands. While helping the starter motor, unscrew the two bolts that hold the 2.4L engine to the transmission. Make sure the starter motor is not hanging loosely on the wiring by supporting it and before you work on the nut, drop the motor as far as you need to access the stud for the battery cable attachment. After that, take out the battery eyelet from the starter and separate the terminal wire from the starter solenoid before removing the starter motor. Attach the end of the solenoid terminal wire harness connector to the starter solenoid and suspend the starter motor while doing this. Put the battery cable eyelet over the solenoid stud, align the starter motor with the transmission and attach and tighten the bolts following the instructions. To end, raise the vehicle, disconnect the positive cable and then re-attach the negative cable.
