  A: Begin your service and repair of the alternator by unhooking the negative battery cable. After that, remove the right side air inlet tube. Care should be taken since the accessory drive belt tensioner pulley is under pressure and may retract and harm you. Podajnic the tensioning pulley in a counterclockwise way, remove the belt from the generator pulley, then secure the tensioning pulley with a pin or leave it in place and slowly release it when the belt is free. Remove the upper and lower generator bolts (2 and 3), then place the generator back to reach the generator harness connectors. Take off the plastic cap on the retaining nut for the generator B+ cable and loosen the connector for that cable from the generator's rear. Afterward, slip the generator (1) out of the motor housing.
