  A: Before working on the alternator, turn off the negative battery cable and take out the right side air inlet tube. Use care as the accessory belt tensioner pulley is spring loaded and may cause an injury if it breaks back. Pull the accessory drive belt from the generator pulley by: pulling the tensioning pulley counterclockwise, inserting a pin halfway to lock it or slowly releasing it after the belt comes loose. After that, unscrew the upper (2) and lower (3) generator bolts, then lift the generator to reveal the generator harness connectors. Remove the plastic cover from the nut (5) and unplug the generator B+ cable (4) and the generators harnesses from the back of the generator. Finally, step 3 is to take out the generator (1).
