How to Service and Repair a Power Steering Hose for a 2.4L Engine on 2007 Dodge Caravan?

You should first remove the old O-rings from each side of the power steering tubing on the 2.4L engine to service it. Clean the ends of the hose, the pressure outlet of the pump and the steering gear naturally with a lint-free towel. Replace any bad O-rings on the ends of the power steering fluid pressure hose and apply a bit of clean fluid. Bend the leads only at the clamp sections, never near the end sections and guide them separately from both the engine and exhaust system. Run the hose through the cradle crossmember up to the power steering pump so that there are no sharp bends along the way. Slide one end of the power steering hose into the pump pressure outlet and thread the tube nut without tightening it just yet. Run the hose behind the cradle crossmember and slide the end of the hose into the gear port, just like before, no tightening needed yet. Put the wrong routing hose into its clamp and secure it with a tightened bolt in the cradle crossmember after dialing in 23 Nm (200 in. lbs.) of torque. As you tighten the pressure hose on the pump, rotate it against the fluid return hose fitting. Please finish by tightening the pressure hose tube nuts on the pump and gear box to 31 Nm (275 in. lbs.) torque, install the front emissions vapor canister, lower the vehicle, bleed and fill the power steering system and check for leaks.
