2007 Dodge Caravan Timing Belt Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Remove and Replace a Timing Belt on 2007 Dodge Caravan?
A: First, take out the air cleaner upper cover, housing and tube and, after that, the make-up air hose from the cylinder head cover. Raise the vehicle using a hoist, take off the right front wheel and remove the right inner splash shield afterwards. After that, remove the belt from the accessory drive, the crankshaft vibration damper and the unit that holds the air conditioner/generator belt tensioner and pulley. Undo the bolts that hold the timing belt lower front cover and remove the part and afterwards let the vehicle down. Take out the bolts for the upper timing belt front cover and lift off the cover. Then remove the right engine mount and its bracket. Whenever syncing the crankshaft and camshaft marks, spin the engine with the crankshaft, since moving the camshaft after removing the timing belt may deteriorate the functioning of the valves. Set the crankshaft so that the TDC mark on the oil pump housing matches the TDC mark on the crankshaft sprocket's trailing edge on the sprocket or else the camshaft timing will be wrong. After relaxing the timing belt tensioner lock bolt, insert an Allen wrench with a 6 mm head into the pulley's top plate opening and turn the plate clockwise to give the belt enough freedom to remove from the engine. If the problem with the timing belt is due to incorrect tracking, you have to replace the belt tensioner pulley and bracket at the same time.
