2007 Dodge Grand Caravan Automatic Transmission Filter Parts and Q&A
Q: How to Service and Repair an Automatic Transmission Filter in the 41TE Automatic Transaxle on 2007 Dodge Grand Caravan?
A: Only use Mopar® ATF+4 for service and repairs of the 41TE Automatic Transaxle and it is best to change the filter and wipe clean the magnet inside the oil pan while changing the fluid. Should the transaxle be taken apart, its fluid and filter should be replaced. Start by lifting the vehicle with a hoist and supporting a container beneath the transaxle oil pan. Relax the bolts and smack one part of the oil pan to let the fluid drain out first, before you take off the oil pan. Place a fresh filter and O-ring on the underside of the valve body, then thoroughly clean the pan and magnet, topped with fresh sealant and secure the pan with new bolts tightened to 165 in-lb. Pour ATF+4 into your engine system and start it while it is idling for one minute. Apply the parking and service brakes and for a moment move the selector lever to every position, bringing it back to park or neutral. Check the transaxle fluid level and add fluid to place it 2 mm (3/32 in.) below the lowest mark, then check it again when the transaxle has reached its operating temperature, 82°C (180°F). Make sure the dipstick rests all the way in, so dirt won't get into the transaxle. In case of the dipstick tube fluid suction method, you need to make sure that the transaxle is running at its maximum temperature, have an appropriate fluid pumping device handy and make sure the suction line UCSD reaches the exact bottom level of the transaxle oil pan. Once the suction line is disconnected, use the dipstick opening to pour in four quarts of Mopar® ATF+4, run the engine and follow the same method used before to check and adjust the level of fluid.
