2007 Dodge Nitro Harmonic Balancer Parts and Q&A
Q: How Is the Harmonic Balancer Installed on 2007 Dodge Nitro?
A: Before starting, make certain the harmonic balancer bore and the crankshaft nose are fully cleaned so no harm comes to the parts. Mismatch the harmonic balancer slot with the key in the crankshaft and move the harmonic balancer onto the crankshaft a short way. To use Special Tool 8512A, place the roller bearing on top of the threaded rod first, so the hardened bearing side is closest to the nut, thread the nut onto the shaft and then slide the hardened washer over the threaded rod. Cover the threaded rod's threads in Mopar(R) Nickel Anti-Seize or Loctite No. 771. Attach Special Tool 8512A to press the harmonic balancer on the crankshaft and when that is done, apply 175 Nm (130 ft. lbs.) of force to tighten the harmonic balancer bolt. Next, put on the accessory drive belt and attach the negative battery cable.
