2007 Dodge Ram 2500 Harmonic Balancer Parts and Q&A
Q: How Is the Harmonic Balancer Installed on the Crankshaft on 2007 Dodge Ram 2500?
A: When installing the harmonic balancer, make certain to clean the harmonic balancer bore and crankshaft nose well so no significant harm occurs. Set the harmonic balancer a little bit on the crankshaft. Assemble Special Tool 8512-A by starting by threading part number 2 onto part number 3 and then inserting part number 1 with its hardened bearing surface toward part number 2. After that, push the hardened washer (part number 5) down over the threaded rod. Cover the threads on the threaded rod with either Mopar(R) Nickel Anti-Seize or Loctite No. 771. Position the crankshaft harmonic balancer with Special Tool 8512-A and then tighten its bolt to 176 Nm (129 ft. lbs.). After that, attach the upper radiator hose, put on the accessory drive belt, refill your cooling system and secure the negative lead to the battery.
