Q: How to Install an Oil Pan on 2007 Dodge Ram 2500?
A: Clean the gasket mating surfaces on the block and on the oil pan, then add Mopar(R) Engine RTV to the 4 T-joint areas at the front cover, rear retainer, block and oil pan gasket locations. Following this, put in a new integral windage tray and gasket, as the old gasket gets destroyed when the oil pan is opened. After replacing the o-ring, fix the oil pump pickup tube to the pump with 28 Nm (250 in. lbs.) of torque. Install the double-ended oil pan studs in each of their original places, fit the oil pan in place and attach the bolts and studs, setting each to 12 Nm (105 in. lbs.) using the proper sequence. Lower the transmission into place, attach the nuts and start tightening. Position the engine into the mounts with the use of special tool #8534. When working on a 2WD, install the left and right engine mount bolts and tighten the nuts to 68 Nm (50 ft. lbs.); for 4WD, both left and right side engine mount bracket bolts, tightened to the same value. Remove special tool #8534, put in the structural dust cover and set in the front crossmember next. Pour oil into the engine, put back the negative battery cable, start the engine and review any places for leaks.
